ONCE YOU KNOW, YOU JUST KNOW
People in a relationship often ask, “How do you know she/he is the one? Marriage is forever. How do you know the she/he is the one person you would want to spend the rest of your everyday with?” My answer has always been simple: When you know, you just know.
I guess this is what happens to Richard and Cassia. They are one couple who moves very fast in their relationship. They first knew each other in January 2016, got together 4 months after, got engaged 8 months after, and they got married in October 2017! Even more to that, most of their interactions were done via video calls and whatsapp messages as Richard lived in the Bay Area while Cassia was in Surabaya. Listening to their story, my immediate question was, how can someone be so sure of each other after spending only such a short amount of time together??
However, the more I think about it, I smile to myself. Everyone is wired differently. For some people, wedding could be a very complicated thing, and yet for others, it can be as simple as “I love her”! Once you KNOW that she is the right person, what else are you waiting for? Don’t you just want to spend everyday with her? Why waste time? Why does love have to be complicated?
I’m not saying that any of them is taking this lightly, not at all! They must have given it a thorough thought to marry each other. But once you find your perfect match, really, love can be that simple. I have known many couples like them, and together, they are happier than ever.
Even though Richard and Cassia had only been in this relationship for less than two years, their wedding felt like a long time coming. They were so ready to put an end to the endless video calls and be together in person, holding each other without having to say goodbye. Cassia wore her biggest smile all day long, while Richard was so emotional he couldn’t hold back his tears of joy. Seeing how sweet they were to each other, and how happy they were to finally be together, I just couldn't help but smile. Really guys, love should be that simple. And once you know, you just know.
